The rise of the YouTube Trini Stars

image

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, and that rock lacked an internet connection, you may not have noticed the rise of Trini created media on the web. Its funny because we Trinis don't expect much from our homebrew stuff, but persons and myself included were left particularly impressed with what have been done.

For me it started with animations such as The Office and Vendor Rivalry by Electric Juvenile Productions. They were fresh, funny and most importantly based solely on Trini culture, nothing borrowed here. It left me deeply impressed the first time I saw it and indicated that there was indeed space for a Trini style of cartooning and comedy on the world wide web.

Another great Trini Animation

I should have known that it would not have ended there because sure enough YouTube was hit with a volley of Trini created Vids. Mostly amateur stuff, but its popularity in TnT and the rest of the Caribbean proved that we were eager for more Trinbagonian content, no matter how silly a package it came in.

When “Yuh wuh sum sorrel or what” came on the scene it gave gave birth to the true YouTube Trini Stars. Buhwamoder with his Trini Slap Chop and the eccentric Santana in the hit Patsy soon joined the fray. They were such successes that they have produced quality sequels and even got promotion deals. In fact they even inspired some copycats, and imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery (not like we don't flatter them most of the time).

I hope you are like me and are eager to see what comes next, but as we wait hit the YouTube and do a search for more Trini content and get some additional laughs……. err catch more jones. Allow this less  popular animation to start you off.

A less known animation
